Dreaming of laho paratiisi project originated as a proposal for TUO TUO Art Residency’s open call for ecological land artworks inspired by the theme “World Tree” or “Tree of Life”, a motif found in various cultures of the world throughout history. Inspired by a tree’s parts and function, the artwork aims to visually represent the interconnectedness and symbiosis that happen in nature — aspects of life that can help us shape a sustainable culture. The artwork connects the tree of life, as a centrepiece, with some of the agents that nurture it, through roots that extend all along the 2500 m2 field. A local tree and rock, a big owl, giant mushrooms, growing seedlings, and the visitors themselves play the part of the agents; while the tree and its leaves, made of bioplastics, represent the result of collaboration.

El proyecto Dreaming of laho paratiisi originó con el llamado abierto de la residencia de arte TUO TUO, para realizar una pieza artística de land art inspirada en el tema "Árbol de la Vida", un tema que se encuentra en varias culturas a lo largo de la historia. Inspirada en las partes de un árbol y sus funciones, la pieza busca representar visualmente la interconexión y simbiosis que sucede en la naturaleza — aspectos de la vida que pueden ayudarnos a darle forma a una cultura sostenible. La pieza conecta el árbol, como parte central, con algunos de los agentes que lo nutren, a través de raíces que se extienden en los 2500 m2 del terreno. Un árbol y una roca del lugar, una gran lechuza, hongos gigantes, plántulas en crecimiento, y los visitantes toman el rol de los agentes; mientras que el árbol y sus hojas, hechas de bioplásticos, representan el resultado de la colaboración.
The land artwork was made during 22 days at TUO TUO’s land, which was once a sports field for the students of the Pynnolä village school in Joutsa, Finland. The work is almost entirely made of local natural materials such as fallen birch and willow twigs, branches and logs, and washed-up reed, all found around the nearby forest and lakeside surroundings. The installation also gives a new life to discarded materials, such as damaged straw and old wood chips from local farmers, broken fishing nets from neighbour Martti, as well as old scobys from kombucha brewers Ohakune and Roihuvuoren Virvoitusjuoma. Furthermore, the installation hosts living materials such as post-harvest oyster mushroom columns and growing plant seedlings provided by Helsieni, as well as logs inoculated with shiitake and turkey tail mushrooms provided by Kääpä Biotech.
The exhibition opened on Midsummer Eve (25.6.21) and was open to the public until the end of August 2021. After the exhibition season, elements of the installation were disassembled and returned to the forest. Meanwhile, fungi and bacteria will digest and decompose the remaining parts, helping to drive the carbon cycle within the ecosystem.

La pieza artística se realizó durante 22 días en el espacio de TUO TUO, terreno que una vez fue una cancha para los escolares del pueblo Pynnolä, en Joutsa, Finlandia. El trabajo está hecho casi completamente de materiales naturales locales como ramas y troncos de abedules y sauces caídos, y cañas, provenientes de bosques cercanos y alrededores de los lagos. La instalación también le dio una nueva vida a materiales descartados, como paja y aserrín de agricultores locales, redes de pesca dañadas del vecino Martti, y scobys descartados por los productores de kombucha Ohakune y Roihuvuoren Virvoitusjuoma. Además, la instalación acoge materiales vivos como columnas de hongos oyster post-cultivo  y plántulas provistas por Helsieni, asi como también troncos inoculados con hongos shiitake y turkey tail provistos por Kääpä Biotech.
La exhibición comenzó con el solsticio de verano (25.6.21) y estuvo abierta al público hasta fines de agosto del 2021. Luego de la temporada, los elementos de la instalación se desarmaron y devolvieron al bosque. Mientras tanto, los hongos y bacterias ayudarán en la descomposición de las partes restantes, impulsando el ciclo de carbono del ecosistema.
